Well, I have been locked for five years and I am absolutely loving the journey. I was a bit nervous, but I love the way things are looking these days. During year four, I took this picture with my brother and I absolutely love it. Looking great during year four.

Closing out my 3rd year of SL

Hi Friends:

This has  been a very LONG SL year for me..I have had times that I wanted to do the big chop, there have been times when I loved my hair and others where I have accepted the process. As I close out 2012, I am so happy that I have chosen to stick with my locks. My hair has grown so much and when I give it the appropriate attention it really makes me feel vibrant.

I think in 2013, I will start talking to my hair more in efforts to speak life into it. I also need to re tighten my hair more often rather than waiting until it looks absolutely horrible before I make a change. Since I spent the money and gained the appropriate training, I need to use it in the correct manner and in the correct manner. I re-tighten my daughters hair about every eight weeks.Mine is much longer because I don't feel motivated to spend several hours doing one thing.

I am going to post a few pictures to capture pictures of my daughter and I from 2012. She has had her locks for two years and I have had mine for three years. She is eight years old and she absolutely loves that she can wear headbands and bows that accent her hair very well.

2013, will be a great SL having year based on our styles and bows that brings out our hair.

Peace!!

CurlyNuGrowth Chop

Hi Friends:

Okay here is CurlyNuGrowth discussing her big chop. I felt so emotional while I was listening because I could TOTALLY understand where she is coming from. I want to show you her reasons for the chop and her journey with SL, she reminds me of myself and I wanted to show you all her videos.

Enjoy

Here is her journey with SL-will I be next...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think I maybe a little jealous that she is free-however, I am one of those people that give up at the site of adversity/struggle and hardship. So, I need to push through this hair struggle and make it work. So onward and upward I go!!

Oh No!!

Hello Friends:

So, I am in my feelings because I just watched the video of CurlyNuGrowth where she cut off her SL. I am so sad for her, but I TOTALLY understand where she is coming from.
As I sit her at my desk with so much new growth and no time to get it done. My hair is itching like crazy and I hate the way it looks when I have new growth and when it is straight. "HOT MESS". So, as she cut her hair I thought to myself, should I also cut mine and maybe start over???

The answer is no, I need to make this work and stop cutting or running from something because it is uncomfortable or not the way that I think it should be. So, I have decided to give my hair some attention once I get home. My daughter also has SL and I feel guilty doing my hair and not hers but both of us could use some attention to our hair.

Well, I will do my hair tonight and then her hair will be the target for tomorrow. I feel much better when my hair is done, my eyebrows are done and my hair is curly. Therefore, I will make all of that happen sometime soon.  My promise to you is, I will place a picture here so you can see what that looks like.

Here is a picture of me today-HOT MESS, I have started working out again so the new growth is coming much quicker. Look at this lazy and unprofessional hairstyle..

I am not feeling this hairstyle-when I got my SL installed I was not going for this look at all. However, this has been my style for the past two days. Not cute!!

I will get back with you on how things work out this evening!!

Finished Product

Hello Peeps:

So, I have completed my hair and it is not as itchy as it was and it for sure looks better in style. So, I plan to go a few days like this and then towards the end of the week  and then wash and use some of ther anti-itch product. I am a member of the Sisterlock group on facebook and some sister's has suggested witch hazel, selsum blue and neutragena T-gel..

So, my plan is to find one of these and to get back with you on what solution worked best for me. Here is a picture of my finished product.

Cure this Hair & Scalp immediately

Clip, Wash & Curl

Hello Peeps:

So as of now I have called my loctician in Florida and she has advised me on how to clip my ends one re- tightening at a time. It sounds like a possible cure, so I am excited about taking a jab at it.
At this point I have used washed my hair and placed it in pipe cleaners for some curls for the week. My ends are so thick that my hair probably won't be dry until tomorrow sometime so I will be in the house for the evening.
I have taken some pics of the hair and my utensils that I will share with you.
Added the Baking Soda and I thought it would add to the thickness and it seems to have added some chalk to the hair. I will wash it again in a few days. However the next time I will bundle it to save my ends that do not seem to be mature at this time.
All saturated in ACV and I used the gloves to prevent my hands from smelling awful. It's amazing at how my head tingles when I have it on my scalp.
Here I am in my cap before I shower and roll my hair. I sat in this for 15 mins with the apple cider and then for 5 mins with the baking soda on. Today this cap served a purpose for each step in the TAKING my hair back campaign.
Here is my roller set that will have me locked inside for the day. My hair will take forever to dry and you KNOW that I cannot be out in public with these different colored rollers. That will not be cute and my family probably would not want me around them.

Itching Solution Part II

Hey Peeps:

So, I have watched so many videos and I have decided to make one myself to capture my frustration with my locks. Also, I wanted you all to be able to see them so that you can understand exactly where I am coming from. I am ALWAYS itching or fighting fat ends, I like to wear pins and clips in my hair at times but it's so fat that they won't stay put. OMG so frustrating. So, here is my video giving you my battle cry and I want you to see the one that made me somewhat hopeful that I can grab control of my hair somehow.

Itching Solution Experiment

Hello:

So, I mentioned earlier that my hair is so itchy. I have been searching on YouTube for some solutions and I found a possible solution. I am going to share this young ladies video with you so that you can see what I have decided to try out and make my own if it works. I plan to do this on my own hair first so that I do not ruin Nichole's hair if this doesn't work. I am excited and nervous all in one, but overall I need a solution that will work so I am somewhat DESPERATE.. This itching is horrible, last night while I was scratching my husband asked me did I have hives in my head...What the What???

Anyway I am off to try this out and I will follow up and let you all know, enjoy your weekend.

Big Hair-May 2012

Hello-

Today I was feeling fit and headed to workout, but I wanted to show you my big hair day...How BIG is this hair-I think I am looking so cute tho-I don't care..Check me out

Nic's Third year w/Sister Locks

Hello Peeps-

I wanted to allow you all to see how much Nic's hair has grown in this second year of her locks..Her is Nic on Easter 2012.

Four Years

Hello Peeps:

So, I have not had my locks for three years and for the most part I am not feeling these fat and hard ends on some of them. Apparently my hair has wrapped itself around one another on the ends and I absolutely hate that..The ends are scratching my neck and causing me a rash. Also, the ends are hard to tuck away in hair pins and various styles that I would like to try out.

Additionally, I scalp has been itching like nobodies business. I have tried the ACV and I just watched a youtube video about using baking soda. So, I think I am about to try both methods in a few minutes so that I can get my scalp feeling better and to get a nice hairstyle for next week.
Lately, I have felt SL challenged as my hair has not been cooperative and appeared to do better in a freestyle manner. Well I have started a new job and there are not any women of color working there so I would like to represent in a very nice and professional manner in the physical and mental. I am sure that it will all balance when I get this hair on track.
Next month I will become a trainer, which means more sweating in my head therefore it is imperative that I find a washing method that works for me. I am attaching a picture of myself at three years and Nichol (my daughter at two years. I will post more pictures of Nichole as this picture does  not capture her hair like I would like too. However, I love the way my hair looks-Wishing everyone a very happy Natural Day~

Christmas 2010 Pictures: Kids & Mommy~

Take a look at how Baby Girl's hair is growing along with the manner in which my hair is growing as well.

The journey has been nice so far and we are both loving the highs and lows of our hair. We get several questions. Overall, some are ready to accept our uniqueness and others are not.

Here is the lady that founded the SL walk...I do appreciate that she shared her vision with us for so many years. Here are a few photos of her and myself along with Nichole.
